You have turned rest into a form of hiding. The keys land in the bowl each night, the same ritual, and you move through the house as if you are still working even when your hands are empty. Calling it rest would mean acknowledging that the work was real, that it took something from you, that you are not infinite. So instead you orbit the project. You think about it while washing dishes. You scroll past related articles. You have become very good at the appearance of stepping back while actually standing still.
Rest is not the same as quitting. It is not proof that you lack discipline or drive. The people you admire most, the ones whose work shapes things, they have learned to close the door and actually leave. They have learned that stopping is a skill. Right now you are confusing rest with failure because you have never given yourself permission to discover the difference.
Walk without your phone. Not to solve anything. Not to prepare for tomorrow. Just to move through air and notice what your body knows when your mind stops narrating. The project will still be there. What changes is you.
Put the project in a drawer before sunset and do not open it again until after breakfast tomorrow.
