You built a skill so solid that people still ask for it. You still deliver. The work arrives on time and complete, which is the problem. It proves you could keep doing this forever, and forever is not what you want anymore.
The thinking happens in the shower because that is the only place no one expects anything from you. No notifications. No reputation to maintain. Your hands are warm and the mirror steams over. You stand there and let yourself name what has shifted. Not the work itself. You. You have outgrown the shape of this skill like a tree outgrows a stake.
This is not failure. This is the moment when being good at something becomes a different kind of burden. The thing that once proved your worth now whispers that you have no other options. You do. Name what you want to try instead, even if you are not ready yet. Say it out loud to someone real. The person you become next needs to hear it first.
Spend one hour this week researching or learning something you have never done before.
