You've made a decision about what their silence means, and you're holding it like evidence. The message sits unread because reading it would require you to respond, and responding would mean risking the version of this story you've already written in your head. You're good at spotting what's broken. You're even better at deciding it's probably broken beyond repair.
That chipped bowl in your kitchen is the same one nobody throws away. It still holds things. It still works. The crack doesn't make it useless, though you notice it every time you reach for it. You've been treating the message the same way you treat that bowl: aware of the damage, uncertain if it's worth keeping, too practical to make a mess by forcing it.
Write back something that doesn't need to be perfect. Not an explanation, not an apology for taking time. Just a sentence that says you're here. The relief you feel after you send it will tell you what you actually wanted all along.
Send one honest sentence to them today, no matter how small.
